B.Teori :
Efek Tyndall
adalah penghamburan cahaya oleh larutan koloid, peristiwa di mana jalannya
sinar dalam koloid dapat terlihat karena partikel koloid dapat menghamburkan
sinar ke segala jurusan.Sifat pengahamburan cahaya oleh
koloid di temukan oleh John Tyndall, oleh karena itu sifat ini dinamakan
Tyndall. Efek dari Tyndall digunakan untuk membedakan sistem koloid dari
larutan sejati, contoh dalam kehidupan sehari – hari dapat diamati dari langit
yang tampak berwarna biru atau terkandang merah/oranye, debu dalam ruangan akan
terlihat jika ada sinar masuk melalui celah. Seandainya bila terjebak di ruang bawah tanah berdebu yang gelap
gulita pada siang hari, debu dalam ruangan akan terlihat jika ada sinar yang
masuk melalui celah yang kecil.
Hal serupa dapat terjadi bila kita terjebak di hutan tropis
lebat pada pagi hari dimana kabut mengelilingi kita, sinar matahari akan tampak
jelas menerobos sela-sela pepohonan.
Dalam realitasnya efek Tyndall
dapat ditemukan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, diantaranya :
1.Sorot lampu proyektor di gedung
bioskop akan tampak jelas ketika ada asap rokok sengga gambar film yang ada di
layar menjadi tidak jelas.
2.Sorot lampu mobil pada malam hari
yang berdebu, berasap, atau berkabut akan tampak jelas.
3.Berkas sinar matahari yang melalui
celah daun pepohonan pada pagi hari yang berkabut akan tampak jelas.Terjadi
warna biru di langit pada siang hari. Hal ini disebabkan karena udara
mengandung partikel-partikel koloid yang berupa debu, awan, dan kabut.

D.Cara Kerja :
1.Siapkan 4 tabung reaksi kemudian
masing – masing diisi air kurang lebih 50 ml.
2.Masukkan air gula,susu,air sabun dan
campuran air tanah pada tabung reaksi yang berbeda
3.Campurkan juga larutan minyak tanah
dengan deterjen sampai minyak tanahnya tidak terlihat lagi
4.Arahkan berkas cahaya lampu senter
pada masing-masing tabung reaksi satu persatu. Amati berkas cahaya dari samping
dengan arah tegak lurus. Beserta warna campuran apakah bening atau keruh.

1.Sifat
koloid terhadap cahaya yaitu bersifat menghamburkan cahaya dan berkas cahaya
dapat diamati dari samping.
2.Efek Tyndall adalah penghamburan cahaya
oleh partikel koloid jika seberkas cahaya dilewatkan pada koloid. Peristiwa di
mana jalannya sinar dalam koloid dapat terlihat karena partikel koloid dapat
menghamburkan sinar ke segala jurusan.
3.Larutan sejati hasil campurannya berwarna
bening dan dapat meneruskan cahaya.sedangkan koloid , campurannya berwarna keruh dan
menghamburkan berkas cahaya apabila di amati dengan mikroskop ultra

Berdasarkan pengamatan diatas saya dapat menarik
kesimpulan yaitu sifat cahaya Efek Tyndall pada larutan yaitu akan meneruskan
cahaya, seperti larutan gula dan minyak tanah. Sedangkan sifat cahaya Efek
Tyndall pada koloid, yaitu akan menghamburkan cahaya seperti campuran air sabun
dan campuran susu.
